The Venue – Trinity College Dublin

Trinity College Dublin, located in the very heart of Dublin, hosted the 10th European Conference on Gender Equality in Higher Education, 20th – 22nd August 2018. Founded in 1592, Trinity College Dublin is one of the oldest universities in Western Europe. Recognised internationally as Ireland’s premier university, TCD is committed to world-class research, scholarship and teaching, Its broad range of disciplines includes Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Science, Engineering and Health Sciences. Trinity College Dublin is a member of LERU, the League of European Research Universities.

Famous alumni include writer, poet, literary critic and satirist Jonathan Swift, physicist and Nobel Prize winner ETS Walton, dramatist Oscar Wilde, former President of Ireland and human rights lawyer Mary Robinson, poet Eavan Boland and actor Ruth Negga.

This is the first occasion that this major biennial conference was held in Ireland. Since 1998, these European conferences have brought together hundreds of gender equality practitioners, researchers, policy makers and administrators from Europe and beyond.

The conference provided an established international forum to discuss and exchange information and experiences on the challenges related to gender in academia, gender equality promotion. Conference contributors discussed the interventions required in higher education and research institutions  and outlined a vision for greater gender equality in higher education and research.

The Conference venue was the Arts Building in Trinity College, and was where all plenaries, workshops and sessions took place.
